I'm following up like I promised I would.

I'm really really really sorry. It's been two months since I promised you notes from a dumb class. But I am here again, posting. :D (and the crowd of 3 followers rejoiced.)

Music Major Success. August 31, 2010.
1. Go to class
(are you kidding me?)
2. Get your work done.
3. Limit your work hours to 15 hours a week or less.
(vegetables?) (he talks about numbers a lot.)

I don't remember where the vegetables came from, but he
definitely brought them up.

September 1, 2010.
  • An outlier is something that exists outside of the ordinary or statistical norm.
  • Cumulative advantage.
  • Achievement = talent + preparation
  • Practice, practice, practice! Goal: 10,000 hours. Work hard.
  • Take advantage of opportunities.
Okay. Now I'd like to point out that to get 10,000 hours, I'd have to practice like, 3 or 4 hours a day for the
next 10 years. As a vocalist, this is not healthy. If I did this, my voice would disintegrate. Which is bad. So
this is not the best idea ever. I think I'll stick with my hour a day routine. Until I develop chords of steel.

I'll post more soon. I've got quite a bit, since the class is pretty much over now.

Oh, by the way, I'm going to see Iron & Wine on Saturday in New Orleans. I'm
tremendously excited.
Also, college rocks. I'm totally digging this. I just wish I had a kitchen.

Attention.

I like you. I really, really like you. K? Now you know.

Music Major Success

I have a new idea. I'm taking a class called Music Major Success, and, since we don't do a ton in class, I've been taking notes. I'm thinking about posting the notes on here. I have the class every Monday and Wednesday. So get ready. Notes are coming.

My apologies.

That last post was kind of dumb. Sorry.

Prince Charming and the obstacle that's in the way

I feel like poo today. My sleeping schedule has gone completely haywire, I feel like I've been lying to myself, and I have a lot on my mind. I feel like I need to make a decision, but I don't want to. Don't you hate that?

And you know how sometimes you imagine yourself with that perfect person? Maybe he isn't perfect. Maybe he's just gorgeous (and by gorgeous I mean smokin' hot) or funny or intelligent or charming. Well let's imagine that I've found said "perfect" person. Now usually when you find this person you just end up oogling over him, because, let's face it, you probably aren't going to date this person. However this time, I can't date him. And it isn't because he's not interested or I'm not pretty enough. This time it isn't a flaw of mine that is keeping me from him. It's someone else. I never thought I'd be in this situation. And it sucks, almost more than it does when the obstacle is a flaw of yours that you can't change....

On the other hand, my little cousin is in town! I think I'll go visit him. Maybe he'll brighten my day (he's good at that.)

MonsterQuest

I think that the show MonsterQuest should do an episode on the Slender Man.

Summer

I'll admit it. This summer has been unproductive. So to all the parents who want their kids to get a job, go to summer school, or get up every morning for other various reasons: It is okay to sleep in every day and relax. Sure, we should get up and do something productive every once in a while, but we do that every day from August to May. I know you'd probably say, "Oh wait until you have to work. You don't get a summer vacation."
........
This prompts the question: Why would I, a person who has the convenience of a summer break, however temporary it may be, bother to wake up early to be productive. In a few years, I'll have to do that anyway, and not by my own choice. I will be unproductive, and when I decide to be productive, I will do so of my own accord. As a student who just graduated high school and is going to a university in the fall, it is completely and utterly acceptable to be unproductive.

This summer has also been a gas guzzling disappointment. I've been traveling to Brookhaven, Oxford, and Hattiesburg constantly. Also, my family reunion is usually held in Orange Beach, but because of the oil spill, we probably aren't going. Maybe it's time we take a family vacation somewhere else? (I'm all up for Orlando so we can go to Islands of Adventures and go to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter.)

So yeah. This has been summer so far. Nothing too terribly interesting has happened. It hasn't been all bad. I've been able to spend lots of time with friends and family, I had a voice lesson with the voice teacher I want to study under at school in the fall, and I got my wisdom teeth out (which meant lots of pudding, smoothies, ice cream, jello, and pain meds.) I have to admit though, the most exciting parts of the summer have happened in Oxford.

I'll try to update more. It shouldn't be too hard, since I have lots of time on my hands. ;)

Destiny's Child

No. I do not want to listen to Destiny's Child.
Thank you.

I'm really bad at blogging. I get sidetracked by things like....class and food. I wore a sombrero today.
